How EFI Works
While carburetors operate on the principle of Bernoulli’s physics, where airflow creates suction to draw in fuel, fuel injection is a system where fuel is pressurized by a fuel pump and injected into the throttle body.
In drone applications, or unmanned aerial vehicles, fuel injection offers significant advantages over carburetors, particularly those of the diaphragm type commonly used in these small engines:
- It eliminates the need for adjustments with changing weather conditions.
- Automatically adjusts fuel mixture at varying altitudes.
- Reduces fuel consumption.”
Integration with Ardupilot
The Loweheiser ECU offers connectivity to the flight controller via both UART and CANBUS interfaces, allowing seamless integration with Ardupilot-based flight controllers. Whether it’s firmware for Arducopter for multicopters or Arduplane for fixed-wing and VTOLs, the ECU ensures compatibility. It transmits crucial data channels such as:
RPM (Engine speed)
CHT (Cylinder Head Temperature)
IAT (Intake Air Temperature)
BARO (Absolute Barometric Pressure)
TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
Furthermore, for Ardupilot users, the CANBUS connection enables integration with any other flight controller.
